‘International Workshop On Empowering Youth for Drug-Free Community’ organize by Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) through it’s Asian Center for Research of Drug Abuse (ACREDA) on the basis of the commitment of USIM in handling the issue of youth and drug abuse which is worsened throughout the years. The latest statistics (2015) issued by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) shows that over 60% of 7000 recorded cases of drug abuse occurred among youth. This clearly shows that this group is at high risk of danger involved with drug abuse.
This workshop was aimed at strengthening the awareness and the responsibility of society, especially among the youth in provide any form of assistance from the emotional and physical understanding throughout the process of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation as a continuous effort with the special knowledge and expertise to maximize protective factors and minimizing risk factors. Sometimes prevention related program are gaining less impact on the community because people in community do not really realize the urgent and desperate need for their community.
